Ashcourt secured the principal contract for the entire construction of a new storage extension with dispatch and offices to the existing production at Kellythorpe Industrial Estate, Driffield with a timeline of 11 months.

The first phase of works consisted of our civil engineering team working on the site enabling works and then earthworks of the site to prepare for the construction of the pad foundations. Our plant hire division were also involved to ensure the correct machines were available for each stage of the civils works.

For the main building, 420 tonnes of steel were used to create the impressive structure which reaches heights of up to 21 metres and features steel cladding on the exterior. An important factor we had to consider for this project was the existing building aesthetic and incorporate elements into the new design to ensure continuity of the site. Along with this, two attenuation tanks have been installed with over 700m3 storage that connects into a new system to minimise flood risk.

Ashcourt concrete division were involved, suppling over 7000m² concrete from our concrete production facilities in Hull and Pocklington. Benefits of Ashcourt being a fully integrated solution means it improves efficiency on projects by having in-house teams that work hard to supply large projects on-time and at short notice, therefore eliminating any third-party delays. Other divisions involved include waste management, aggregates and highways.

Our management team, along with our sub-contractors faced multiple challenges in the supply of materials, which was a global issue due to COVID-19. Despite these issues, all workers operated as an effective team to deliver this project at the highest standard to our client. They also worked hard to refine the finishing touches to the project, which feature a new car park with electric car charging points, as well as a large HGV yard.
