Completed in 2012, The Boulevard was one of our first major student development projects. The development comprises a total of 356 student rooms across a combination of studios and cluster flats throughout five buildings. Built on former industrial land in the centre of York, using a modular construction method, the entire project was completed within a demanding 9 month time frame. Constructed using a combination of timber frames for the three smaller buildings and volumetric light gauge structural steel for the two larger buildings this project made use of the most up to date building techniques.
On this development Ashcourt paid close attention to the interior layouts of the rooms, the external aesthetics of the buildings and the outdoor spaces, spending a great deal of time developing innovative storage solutions drawing on past experiences from working on other projects within the residential building sector. Ashcourt’s work at The Boulevard achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’, with an air tight rating of 3m3/m2@50Pa, it also generates 10% of its energy requirements through LTZ technologies, and 2 No CHP units.
