Our latest video provides an insight into the day-to-day operation at the quarry, from the extraction and processing of limestone through to stock management, loading and the onward delivery of materials to customers across the region. Located near Sherburn in Elmet and within easy reach of the A1, Newthorpe Quarry is strategically positioned to support construction, civil engineering and infrastructure projects throughout West Yorkshire and beyond. Since acquiring the quarry, Ashcourt Group has invested in the plant, machinery, people and operational processes required to bring the site in line with the standards maintained across the wider Group.
The video showcases the scale of the operation and the work taking place behind the scenes to ensure customers receive a reliable and consistent supply of high-quality quarried limestone. From the initial extraction of material to processing and grading, every stage of the operation is carefully managed by our experienced quarry team. The finished products are then organised across the site’s stock bays, ready for collection or delivery. Investment in modern machinery is an important part of the quarry’s ongoing development. This includes a Volvo EC360 excavator equipped with a full Hardox heavy-duty rock bucket, designed to manage demanding quarrying applications efficiently and reliably. The machine also features heavy-duty lip and heel shrouds, together with K-Prime easy-change teeth and adaptors, helping to support productivity while reducing downtime during challenging extraction work.
Newthorpe Quarry produces a broad range of limestone aggregates suitable for applications including road construction, working platforms, drainage, foundations, access routes and bulk filling.

Materials are available for both collection and delivery, with the quarry supported by Ashcourt Group’s extensive transport fleet. The quarry forms an important part of Ashcourt Group’s wider regional network, helping us improve product availability, increase security of supply and provide a responsive service to customers throughout West Yorkshire.
