Works on our Day Surgery Unit at Castle Hill Hospital have progressed well recently as we near the completion of phase 1. This new surgery is part of the government funding programme for hospitals across the Northeast and Yorkshire to boost activity, with the Castle Hill surgery housing six new theatre rooms in hope to reduce the need for patients to stay overnight in hospital.

Our team have been working hard to ensure this phase continues to run smoothly as we have finished the installation of the galvanised staircase on the north elevation. The last of the service diversions have now begun meaning the foul and surface water systems can be installed, taking us one step closer to the end of phase 1 works. 

During the next few weeks, our surfacing team will be onsite to start formatting to levels so the installation of RCC (roller compacted concrete) and tarmac can commence.  We have already completed a new service road towards the rear of the building for supply and delivery access to the Waste Compound area. 

This project is one of many that Ashcourt Construction have built for Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust with other developments including the Rehabilitation Facility and Allam Diabetes Centre at Castle Hill along with the new Intensive Care Unit and Front Entrance at Hull Royal Infirmary.
