Project Description
Ashcourt's Construction team have built the new Complex Rehabilitation Unit at Castle Hill Hospital in Hull. Offering a tailored solution to the build by introducing off-site manufacturing to minimize waste and maximize the speed of construction Ashcourt were able to utilize a fully integrated solution to bring together multiple divisions and provide most of the works ourselves. The envelope of the building included a well-insulated solid ground floor to give a more robust option than is possible with a suspended floor of modular units. Externally, the levels around the building were rationalized and retaining walls were introduced to support adjacent carparks with fence screening introduced to ensure that the new virology building benefitted from privacy.
Project Analysis
This project was tendered in four stages namely, demolition, foundations and drainage, superstructure and fit out. The Ashcourt Group were able to tender for all four stages and offer both time and cost savings as the Ashcourt Group include demolition, civil engineering, construction, M&E, aggregates, concrete, plant and transport. Because we encompass the differing disciplines, we can offer a holistic approach to any construction project which eliminates the grey areas between the different stages of construction which offers more cost and programming certainty.
Our combined offer included a cost reduction of over £81,000 and a 4-week saving in project duration by overlapping the disciplines and operating under the banner of one principle contractor.
